Vintage 1990s hand-dyed ombré silk slip dress

Vintage 1990s slip dress in 100% silk, originally ivory and later hand-dyed in a one-of-a-kind ombré finish by dirati. The new color transitions from a deep muted green at the top through olive tones with subtle warm rust-toned variations through the middle, fading into chartreuse green toward the lower portion of the dress. The hand-dyeing process creates natural variations in color and tone throughout the silk.

Designed with a straight neckline, non-adjustable silk spaghetti straps, and a long straight-cut silhouette. The lower portion is finished with a flowing double-tiered ruffle hem for added movement and volume.

A silk flower embellishment at the left bust, finished with long silk ribbon tails, was added later by dirati as part of the rework.

Originally a 1990s Jessica McClintock piece. The original brand and size labels have been removed.

Condition: Very good vintage condition overall
The vintage silk shows subtle fading, cloudy surface variation, uneven luster, and surface/color variation consistent with age and previous care or cleaning. Depending on the light and viewing angle, some areas may appear more faded, muted, or slightly whitish than others.

The hand-dyed finish is naturally uneven in places, with subtle mottling and some darker areas of dye concentration. These variations are part of the hand-dyed finish rather than stains.

There is also a slight permanent indentation in the silk near the front neckline edge. It does not press out and is most noticeable when viewed against the light.

All of these details are subtle and mainly noticeable upon close inspection.
